Dreki My Icelandic Dragon

Mary Logue

Johan’s grandfather who is a charismatic Icelander had secretly brought a dragon egg to America when he immigrated. The dragon, Dreki, hatched the same day Johan was born, creating a magical bond between them.

Now, years later, both Siggy and Dreki are ailing, and Johan must race against time to bring them safely back to Iceland. There, he will uncover his family’s roots while fighting to protect Dreki’s existence.

It is a coming-of-age story blending Icelandic folklore with themes of family, aging, and the journey home. And also perfect for dragon lovers!

3 Things About The Author

Mary Logue

Did you always want to be a writer...

I would have wanted to be a writer when I was a child if I had known it was possible. When I could only read two words: "you" and "I," I went through a wholebook and circled them. I knew reading was the key to the rest of the world. I wrote my first mystery when I was in sixth grade—it was about a mysterious trail around a pond.

A place I call home...

I am bi-riverbank, living on both sides of the Mississippi, with writer Pete Hautman in Minnesota and Wisconsin. And Rene and Jacques, our toy poodles

About poetry...

It takes me about five to ten years to write a book of poetry, but poetry is a constant in my life—both reading and writing it.
