Maple For The People

Kate McGovern

In the city of Porttown, everyone knows aerimanders are a myth. Aerimanders - fire-breathing creatures more sinister than the ordinary dragon, have been extinct for centuries after the citizens chased them away. But there are rumors of an aerimander egg that might have survived...and Eva Alexander may accidentally have come into possession of what everyone is looking for.

3 Things About The Author

Kate McGovern

What experiences did you draw on for the book...

I drew on my own experiences with students. I thought a lot about how they were gifted in so many ways, but how often they didn’t have a chance to show off those gifts in school because reading had become a barrier. I was really inspired by my former students and how wonderful and special they each were in their own ways.

Where is home...

Cambridge, MA, beside my husband and two daughters.

What else do I write...

I also write other stuff, like these essays about teaching, relationships, trains etc.
